Now that you have signed up, here is a bit more helpful information:
What do I need to wear?
All riders must have long pants, boots with a heel and those 18 and younger need an equestrian helmet. For those 18 and younger, we do offer the use of our helmets and boots through our rental program. Please, no flowing jackets or shirts or loose jewelry. (Note: For our meet and greet, boots aren’t required, as the ride is guided. Our helmets fit riders ages 5ish and up, so feel free to bring any helmet for little ones).
When selecting boots, we are looking for boots that have a heel and can come off easily. When the boot is in the stirrup, we want the heel to prevent the boot from slipping all the way through. If you were to slip, we would want your boot to slide off easily to prevent injury. We also prefer to have boots that fit spurs easily, so no extra buckles or zippers, etc, that can prevent the spurs from fitting.
Payments and Late Fees:
Invoices that are not paid on time will be subject to a late fee of $10 per week the invoice remains unpaid.
Cancellations or No-Shows:
When a lesson or event is booked, we have that spot reserved just for you! For weekly lessons, that same time and day is only for you every week. With this in mind, we staff our instructors based off of this schedule a month in advance. This means we can’t fill that spot if you end up having other plans for that week, and it leaves us with a gap in our schedule.
We also have over 60 different students a week, which not only makes for an already tight schedule, but also means if we had to reschedule or refund for everyone’s alternate personal plans, it wouldn’t allow us to create a very smooth running operation on our end. For this reason, we do not refund or reschedule missed lessons.
For last minute no shows, our instructor will be at the stables, getting the horses prepared and ready to teach you. When riders don’t show, our instructor has already put in a lot of effort to be ready for that lesson. With this in mind, we do not rebook a missed lesson or refund a missed lesson.
If you are finding it’s hard to make it to your weekly lessons, as life is often busy with other plans – we can take you off the weekly lessons and book you in for individual booked lessons at the rate of $70/hour lesson. This offers flexibility and we can book these when they suit your schedule. We ask for 30 days notice to cancel weekly lessons.
Getting to the Stables:
We are located at 3122 Elliott Rd. You will turn down a long driveway. When you reach the farmhouse, turn left and you will immediately see the stables to your right. You can park anywhere along the stables. Please drive slow – we often have children and dogs/cats/chickens wandering the property and want to make sure our farm stays safe.
Horse Council of BC Membership Insurance:
We encourage our riders to have their own insurance coverage which is available through the Horse Council of BC.
